Back-to-school season can very stressful for co-parents. There are so many things to remember – new schedules, packing lunches, and making sure your children have the supplies they need. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, don’t worry! Our blog can help the back-to-school transition go smoothly for both you and your children. Keep reading to learn some advice on how to co-parent during the back-to-school season!
Communicate with Your Co-Parent
One of the most important things you can do to make the back-to-school season go smoothly is to remain in constant communication with your co-parent. Make sure you and your co-parent are on the same page when it comes to things like drop-off and pick-up times, after-school activities, and homework. By communicating openly and frequently, you can avoid misunderstandings and disagreements down the road.
Get Organized
Back-to-school season is the perfect time to get your family’s schedules in order. Sit down with your co-parent and create a schedule that works for everyone. Once you have worked out a plan, make sure to put it in a place where everyone can see it – we recommend using a whiteboard or online calendar.
Create a Support System
Going back to school can be a difficult transition for kids, especially if they’re starting at a new school or grade level. As a parent, you can support your child and help them feel more comfortable by creating a support system for them. This might mean arranging playdates with other children in their class, meeting their teacher beforehand, or even just talking to them about their worries and concerns. Whatever you do, make sure your child knows that you’re there for them – they’ll appreciate it (and so will you)!
