This solution is often less stressful, easier on all parties involved, takes less time, and costs less than a traditional divorce. However, you will need to meet a number of requirements to qualify for a summary dissolution.

The requirements for a summary dissolution include:

  • No minor children are involved in the divorce
  • You or your spouse have been in California for at least six months
  • The marriage only lasted five or less years
  • Neither you or your spouse owns real estate
  • Both you and your spouse want the marriage to end
  • You and your spouse both give up rights to alimony
  • You and your spouse have $38,000 or less in community property
